The Village Screen pop-up cinema will return to The Abbeydale Picture House for an enchanted Christmas cinema. Audiences will step into the Picture House to uncover magical decor, sparkling Christmas trees, festive tunes and Christmas faves!

On Sunday 8th December The Village Screen are spreading oodles of Christmas cheer at Abbeydale Picture House with a screening of festive romantic comedy, Love Actually.

Ahead of the film screening, attendees can expect to be entertained with live music, with the best Christmas classics thrown. There will be food to relish from some excellent local street food traders. The Village Screen Bar will be open serving delicious Christmas-themed cocktails, beers by Thornbridge Brewery, Prosecco, wines, mulled wine, soft drinks and a selection of cinema snacks and hot drinks.

Age Restrictions: This film is classified 15. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

How do I book tickets? Tickets will go on sale on Monday 21st October 10am

Will I receive a physical ticket(s)? You will receive an online booking confirmation email from our ticket booking agent, See Tickets, with your tickets enclosed.

Will there be parking? There is no allocated parking at Abbeydale Picture House. We encourage attendees to use public transport where possible.

Will I be allocated seating? There will be enough seating for everyone but seating will not be pre-allocated.
How do I reserve seats? You may wish to bring something with you to reserve your seats before the screening starts, like blankets. We cannot be held responsible for any personal belongings going missing during the event.

Will you be serving food and drink? Guests are unable to bring their own food and drink into the event but there will be hot food available and alcoholic and soft drinks available all night. We will be operating Challenge 25 so please remember to bring photographic identification to buy alcohol if you look or are under 25.

Can I bring my own reusable bottle? Yes, Please just ensure it is empty when you arrive at the event. There is free tap water available.

Can I pay by card? Food traders are cash only but we can take card payments at the bar.

When will the film start? Doors to the event will open at 18:30. Guests will be seated for the film at 20:30. Any guests arriving after 20:30 may not be permitted into the event so please join us early to avoid disappointment.

Is the event indoors? Yes, the screening will take place inside The Abbeydale Picture House. Food concessions will be based outside. We recommend that you wrap up warm and bring blankets as the space is not heated.

Is there a minimum age for this event? This film is classified 15. Any children attending under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

What if I book a student, senior or child ticket? If you are a student, you will need to show valid photographic student identification on arrival. If you are a senior, you will need to show valid photographic ID on arrival (passport, driving licence, older person's bus pass). We reserve the right to ID any children who look older than 15.

What should I wear? We advise that you dress warmly and wear sensible shoes. You may also wish to bring blankets to make your experience extra cosy.

What should I bring? Bring your booking confirmation email with you, either on a phone or printed. If you have booked a student or senior ticket, you should also bring suitable identification with you. Please also dress appropriately (see "what should I wear?" above).

Can I smoke at the venue? No, smoking is prohibited during the event. You will need to leave the venue in order to smoke.

What if I am a wheelchair user? This event is unfortunately not accessible for wheelchair users. Please email us at if you have any questions.

I have a carer, can my carer attend the event with me? Yes, please email us at and we will arrange for your carer to have a free seat at the event. You will need to show valid identification (Blue Badge, DID, or equivalent) in order to receive your free carers ticket.

Can I bring a dog/pet to the event? We love dogs but unfortunately we are unable to allow pets into the event.

Will you refund my ticket purchase? We do not offer refunds on ticket purchases. We are happy for you to transfer your ticket to someone else at face value.

Will there be toilet facilities? Yes, there will be toilet facilities at the event.

Can I talk during the screening? We politely ask attendees not to talk during the screening and not to disturb other guests. We reserve the right to remove guests from the screening room who continually disturb others.
